Buyer Seller Meet-2016
 For the first time in the history of U T of Lakshadweep LDCL is organizing a Buyer Seller Meet at Kochi on 01.03.2016 in association with Departments of Agriculture and Fisheries. The Buyer Seller Meet is being convened pursuant to the vision of the Honourable Administrator of U T of Lakshadweep to provide an opportunity for the sellers/ farmers of Lakshadweep to directly meet the potential buyers from mainland for the products of Coconut and Fish and market their products to them.

Joining of new Barges to the fleet of vessels
 M.V.Sagar Yuvraj the 800 MT barge has joined the fleet of LDCL on 11.02.2016 and M.V.SAgar Samrat is expected to join the fleet by 16.02.2016.

Fish Processing Units
             1. Tuna Canning Factory, Minicoy
 

The Corporation has a Canning Factory at Minicoy Island which produces Light Meat Canned Tuna in Oil.

  • Canning Factory Minicoy was established in October 1969 by the department of Fisheries, Lakshadweep.
  • The objective of the project was to make available a better-priced product acceptable to the World market out of Tuna, which form the potential Marine resource of Lakshadweep.
  • This is a seasonal factory operating during the fishing season lasting about 6 months in a year.
  • A new automated Tuna Canning Line is being set up to upgrade production capacity from 1500 Cans/day to 10,000 Cans/day.
Species of Tuna used Skip Jack (Katsuworius Pelamis) - 15%
Yellowfin (Thunnus Albacares ) - 85%
Production Period Seasonal from October to April Product Light Meat Canned Tuna in Vegetable Oil 185 gm
Installed Capacity 1500 Tuna Cans of 185 Gms per day

  • A Mas Packaging Unit has been set up at Agatti Island. This unit produces
